PWC: Touring Car races at Mid-Ohio moved to Lime Rock

Pirelli World Challenge officials have switched the Mid-Ohio rounds for the series' Touring Car classes, scheduled for July 27-31, to the upcoming Lime Rock Park weekend set for May 26-28.

Due to

the change in the SCCA F4 schedule

, the Lime Rock Park TC event will include more track time for the competitors than was allotted for the TC group at Mid-Ohio. The Mid-Ohio event will continue to have the PWC GT/GTA/GT Cup and GTS rounds as a part of the annual Verizon IndyCar Series weekend.

With the limited time track originally scheduled for the TC cars at Mid-Ohio, the Pirelli World Challenge officials felt it was in the best interest of the three TC classes to move to the PWC headliner weekend at Lime Rock in the traditional Memorial Weekend classic.

In addition, the TC teams unable to attend the Lime Rock rounds will receive double points at the Pirelli World Challenge season finale set for Oct. 6-9 at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.

"We had always wanted to include our TC classes at Lime Rock Park, but, with our partnership with SCCA Pro Racing, we deferred to their schedule and the much anticipated debut of the F4 Series," said Greg Gill, President and CEO of WC Vision. "When the F4 debut delay was announced, it was simple and pleasant decision to be able to include our TC classes with us at our Pirelli World Challenge Grand Prix presented by Bentley."

"The change just reinforces the growth in our TC championship," said Marcus Haselgrove, PWC Competition Director. "TC customers and manufacturers requested a Northeast event last year. This opportunity offers a complete GT/TC PWC weekend for fans on Memorial Day weekend."
