Long Beach Hails New Winner of DEKRA Green Award

The Bubba Burger Sports Car Grand Prix at Long Beach was held last weekend on April 15-16. Which team ran most efficient and clean to take home the DEKRA Green Award? The No. 4 Corvette Racing Corvette C7.R with Tommy Milner and Oliver Gavin.

The DEKRA Green Award is a centerpiece of the Green Racing partnership between the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA), Environmental Protection Agency, Department of Transportation, and the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE).  DEKRA consults with IMSA to review Green results to ensure they conform to the established scoring criteria.

“Congratulations to the Wayne Taylor Corvette Team for running the most efficiently during this leg of the WeatherTech Sports Car Championship,” said Donald O. Nicholson, CEO and President of DEKRA NA.  “As a leader in automotive emissions and safety testing and sustainability, we are proud to sponsor the DEKRA Green Award, which recognizes these elite green racers.”

All of the GTLM class teams competing in the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship are scored based on their environmental impact during the race, average speed, fuel consumption, and several other factors to determine the winner of the Green Award. An overall series winner will be crowned at the end of the race season.
