PWC: Nick Wittmer to race TC class Accord

Honda Ste-Rose and Matt Young Motorsports will be competing with driver Nick Wittmer in the Touring Car Class (TC) of the ever popular Pirelli World Challenge (PWC) championship with a Honda Accord V6.

Honda Ste-Rose and Matt Young Motorsports are pleased to introduce multiple Canadian Touring Car Championship (CTCC) champion Nick Wittmer, as driver of the Honda Ste-Rose/Matt Young Motorsports/Honda Accord V6 in Pirelli World Challenge Touring Car Class for the 2016 championship.

Nick will be moving his racing program south of the border this season to take on a new challenge, running the entire season in TC. Nick has run several races in World Challenge with RealTime Racing, dating as far back as the 2010 season, which resulted in a win and a couple of podiums. He is excited to come back this season with his own program and a car he built himself, the popular Accord V6, with which he has competed in the CTCC over the past three seasons.

"We had a ton of work getting the Accord to TC specs, but I'm almost done and we should make COTA,"said Wittmer, who is the younger brother of BWM North America sportscar driver Kuno. "I know the competition will be tough, but I also know what I'm capable of doing and the season should be fantastically competitive."

Honda Ste-Rose team owner Patrik Wittmer said: "This will be our first time running our own team in PWC, but with Nick on board it should create some great battles on-track. I would also like to take this moment to thank everyone at PWC for their help in the transition of our Accord from CTCC to PWC TC specs. Without everyone's involvement this could not have been possible."

Matt Young Motorsports team owner Matt Young said: "We are very pleased to work with a driver the caliber of a Nick Wittmer - someone who can build and engineer his own car, and then go race for a championship ... that is very special and exactly what we intend to do!

"The entire Wittmer family has had tremendous success in motorsport, winning races and championships all over North America, so we're very excited about our partnership with Honda Ste-Rose, and also about reuniting with our friends at Honda Performance Development (HPD) for this upcoming season. I cannot wait to get started at COTA."

"We're excited to work with Nick and the Matt Young Motorsports team as they campaign their Honda Accord this year," said Jeff Barrow, Manager, HPD Commercial Motorsports. "The spirit of racing exists in every Honda vehicle and we're always eager to show how our HPD parts and support can help transform one into a competitive race car at a reasonable cost. With the great track record of Nick and the team, we're confident that the Accord will be leading its class throughout the season."

The team will be announcing additional partners for the 2016 season in the near future.
