Toyota to field works car in BRC

Toyota has become the latest manufacturer to enter the revived British Rally Championship with a works backed BRC 3 class entry on selected events in 2016.

The Japanese manufacturer has a long history in the series, and will enter one of its new GT86 cars, which run to R3 specification. Other cars in the class include the Citroen DS 3 R3 but the GT86 CS-R3 differs from rivals in the division by being rear-wheel-drive.

The TMG car will be prepared and run on events by RallyPrep, run by Neil Yates.

"We're delighted to be involved in bringing the Toyota GT86 CS-R3 to the BRC," said Yates. "We have followed its development closely and know that it will over incredible value and entertainment for drivers and spectators. This is a fabulously designed and engineered car and I think it's a perfect fit for the new BRC."

The program will begin with the season-opening Mid Wales Stages on March 3.
