F1: Pirelli announces further tire choices

Pirelli has opted to make the medium, soft and super-soft Formula 1 compounds available for next year's Bahrain and Chinese Grands Prix.

From next season, teams have more choice over the compounds they can use during the course of the weekend. Pirelli has determined teams must use one set of the medium and one set of the soft during the Sakhir and Shanghai races but are otherwise free with their selection.

The tire supplier also announced that each driver must save one set of the super-soft for Q3, with that set being given back to Pirelli after the session. Team will have free choice over the remaining 10 sets, making up 13 in total for the weekend. They must make their tire choices no less than eight weeks before the start of each European race and 14 weeks before the start of a race outside of Europe.

The combination on offer for the second and third races, respectively, matches that of the season-opening Australian Grand Prix.
