INDYCAR: Berube steps back from IndyCar role
Chris Berube has been redeployed from his role as head of Chevrolet's IndyCar program to take on a management role in the manufacturer's production division.
Berube has been appointed Engineering Group Manager – Test Engineering & Systems for the Global Vehicle Dynamics Center at GM's Milford Proving Grounds in Michigan, where he will lead a team charged with developing improved test methods, champion component characterization for improved requirements, and work with the CAE team to improve the capacity to simulate vehicle performance.
Prior to moving onto the IndyCar program, he spent almost a decade as a lead development engineer at Milford, where he oversaw a team working on Cadillacs.
Berube assumed the position of Chevrolet's most senior trackside manager early in the 2012 IndyCar season. Under his watch, Chevy achieved a run of four consecutive manufacturers' titles, as well as the drivers' championships in 2012 (Ryan Hunter-Reay), 2014 (Will Power) and 2015 (Scott Dixon), and Indy 500 victories in 2013 (Tony Kanaan) and 2015 (Juan Pablo Montoya).
No replacement has yet been announced.
