Chevrolet's Corvette Z06 C7.R Edition At SEMA

Have you ever watched the Corvette C7.R race car in action in IMSA GT Le Mans (GTLM) competition, wishing that you could own such an impressive piece of engineering? 

Well with Chevrolet's new 2016 Corvette Z06 C7.R Edition currently on display at the SEMA show in Las Vegas, Nevada, you're one step closer. This limited production model Corvette – which will be available for purchase – is the closest you can come to owning a thoroughbred Le Mans-winning Corvette race car.

The Corvette Z06 was co-developed with the C7.R race car to push the envelope of performance beyond expectation. Both vehicles share unprecedented levels of engineering and components, including chassis architecture, engine technologies and aerodynamics strategies. The Z06 C7.R Edition (available on Coupe or Convertible 3LZ models) celebrates this track and street relationship. “Corvette Racing’s legacy and technology were significant influences on the development of the Corvette Z06 and the new C7.R Edition honors the direct link between the racecar and the production model,” said Harlan Charles, Corvette Product and Marketing Manager. “It also advances Chevrolet’s plan to offer special-edition models that offer unique, personal ownership experiences, which become important parts of Corvette’s legacy.”The Chevrolet Corvette Z06 C7.R Edition was created to celebrate the championships of Corvette in world-class GT racing, such as Corvette Racing drivers Tommy Milner, Oliver Gavin and Jordan Taylor capturing the GTE-Pro Class victory in the 2015 24 Hours of Le Mans, and Jan Magnussen and Antonio Garcia capturing the 2015 Tequila Patrón North American Endurance Cup – featuring the four endurance races in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship – winning the rounds at Daytona and Sebring. Customers can choose from two exterior color choices – Corvette Racing Yellow or Black. Convertible models include a top with C7.R racing graphics. Additional exterior highlights include a C7.R Graphics Package with a hood stripe that includes the Jake Corvette Racing Logo and Black Z06 wheels with a Yellow Stripe. Also included with the package is a unique indoor car cover with C7.R racing graphics. Inside is a Jet Black suede and leather-wrapped interior with Yellow accent stitching, Carbon-Fiber Interior Package and C7.R Limited Edition interior plaque.The car includes a unique vehicle identification number. Only 650 models will be produced, with 500 available for the U.S. market.
