Callaway Corvette C7 GT3R completes first test

Callaway Competition's new, independently-built Corvette C7 GT3R turned its first laps in testing last week at Hockenheim. Built and run from Callaway Competition's base in Germany, the hulking, carbon fiber-bodied coupe completed its shakedown with no major issues reported.

"Last week we began our preliminary test outing for the new C7 GT3R," team principal Ernst Wohr told RACER. "The goal for these early sessions will be to go over both the systems and drivability of the car, before focusing on out right pace. The first outing at Hockenheim showed a great first step in the cars development. We hope it continues to progress positively from there, during the winter."

The outing at Hockenheim took place in ambient conditions that were cooler than expected, which led Wohr to save performance testing for the Callaway Corvette C7 GT3R until later this month.
