INDYCAR: KVSH to test former Lights driver Garcia
IndyCar's long offseason will receive a welcome break as KVSH Racing ventures out this week to participate in a tire test at Sebring before moving south to give Juan Pablo Garcia (LEFT) a run in its Chevy-powered Dallara DW12 on Thursday.
"We're doing tire testing with [Sebastien] Bourdais tomorrow and then going down to Palm Beach International Raceway to test Garcia," KVSH co-owner Jimmy Vasser told RACER. "He comes out of Indy Lights and we're looking forward to seeing what he can do."
The 28-year-old Mexican completed three partial and three full season in Indy Lights which came to a conclusion at the end of 2014. Garcia placed sixth in the championship with Schmidt Peterson Motorsports last year, and has been rather quiet on the racing front since departing Lights.
"We're getting back in the groove of testing some kids – giving them a day in the car, and we'll go see how Garcia runs," Vasser added.
Although he has not been confirmed, Bourdais is tipped to return to KVSH next season, and with a vacancy in the team's second Indy car program, more tests to evaluate potential candidates are expected to follow.
