NASCAR: Rain delays Charlotte race to Sunday

NASCAR has postponed its 500-mile Charlotte Sprint Cup round from Saturday night to Sunday afternoon due to persistent rain.

The race had been due to get under way just after 7 p.m. local time on Saturday evening, but with the track wet and little hope of improvement, NASCAR decided not to hold out for a change in conditions and to announce a change of day instead.

It will now begin at 12:30 p.m. Eastern time on Sunday, with forecasts better for the rest of the weekend. Charlotte had been scheduled to be the only night race in the 2015 Chase.

Matt Kenseth will start from pole ahead of Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Kyle Busch.
