2016 Ford GT Efforts By The Numbers

CONTEXT

 / BACKGROUND

Although much of the attention around

 the Ford GT race program has centered around the 24 Heures du Mans, Ford’s efforts to race the Ford GT will be global. In fact, its first race, the Rolex 24 at Daytona, kicks off a year-long schedule that will see the Ford GT racing around the world in the

 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship (North America) and FIA World Endurance Championship (Global).

Ford GT Race Program

 in 2016

  • Ford launches a four-car Ford GT race program in January

  • 2016.

  • All four will compete under the Chip Ganassi Racing banner.

  • Two cars will race in the full IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar

  • Championship series and will be based in the United States. Two will compete in the full FIA World Endurance Championship series and will be based in the United Kingdom.
