SCRAMP issues statement regarding management of Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca

Following the news yesterday that

International Speedway Corporation (ISC) had declined the opportunity to submit a formal proposal to promote and manage Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca

, Gregg Curry, Board President of the Sports Car Racing Association of the Monterey Peninsula (SCRAMP), issued the following statement on the matter:

"Our intention from the beginning, and remains the same today, is for SCRAMP to retain the concession agreement with the county and continue our 58-year management and operation of Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. We have been given the opportunity to submit a new proposal and look forward to submitting it to the county for review in a fair and open process."

SCRAMP, a not-for-profit 501c(4) corporation, has operated the Monterey race circuit since it opened in 1957. After each race season, SCRAMP donates its net proceeds to the volunteer groups that help put on the races.
