Spirit of Mazda: Mark Drennan

Dual NASA champion in Spec Miata is recognized for his Challenger Spirit.

"Tenacious" is the first descriptor that racing team owner and Battery Tender Mazda MX-5 Cup Presented by BFGoodrich Tires Tender Mazda MX-5 Cup Presented by BFGoodrich Tires racer Ara Malkhassian uses when talking about Mark Drennan. Malkhassian is also pretty tenacious and, as Spirit of Mazda winner himself, ought to recognize those qualities in others.

Drennan just did the double NASA championship in Spec Miata, winning both the Western and Eastern States titles. That he did so after some near-misses with national championships in past years speaks to that tenacity and his Challenger Spirit, one of the seven pillars of the Spirit of Mazda. As such, Drennan is the August winner of the Spirit of Mazda award.
