PWC: Francis Jr. fastest in TC practice at Monterey

Ernie Francis Jr. posted the fastest time in Thursday's TC practice session at the Pirelli World Challenge Grand Prix of Monterey at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca presented by Cadillac. Patrick Seguin topped the charts in TCA, while Joey Jordan topped the charts in TC

The 40-minute practice session was held under sunny 83 degree conditions.

Early on, Francis Jr. in the No. 98 Breathless Racing/Time4Learning Mazda MX-5 posted the quickest time in TC with a 1:40.190, while Paul Holton in the No. 71 Childrens Tumor Foundation/HPD/Racing4Research.org Honda Civic Si topped the TCA charts with a 1:43.359. In TCB, Nic Duynstee in the No. 59 Racing.ca/Nixon Prosports/LaptopScreen.com/Miniusa MINI Cooper posted a quick time of 1:56.971.

At the 20-minute mark, Francis Jr.'s time still remained as the fastest time of the session in TC, while Holton's time stood at the top in TCA as well. In TCB, Jordan in the No. 47 Protomotive Mazda 2 went to the top of the charts with a 1:55.631.

Later in the session, Francis Jr. bettered his previous mark with a 1:39.907.

Before the checkered flew to end the session, Seguin, in the No. 39 helpkevinproject.com Team Ost Racing Honda Civic SI posted the fastest time in TCA with a 1:42.844.

Of note, TC championship points leader coming into the weekend Corey Fergus in the No.00 USLED/Axis Roofing/AERO/RSS/Motul Motorsports Promotions Porsche Cayman had the third fastest time of the session with a 1:40.766. TCA championship points leader Jason Wolfe in the No. 36 Wolfe Trucking Kia Forte Koup has the second-fastest time in class with a 1:43.941, while TCB championship points leader Johan Schwartz in the No. 25 Tech Sport Racing/ZERO Cancer Chevrolet Sonic has the seventh fastest time in class with a 1:57.390.

TC, TCA and TCB drivers next take to the track at 8 a.m. Pacific/ 11 a.m. Eastern Friday for Round 16 qualifying. Follow live timing and scoring of the session at
