RACER welcomes Mark Glendenning as Editor of RACER.com
Racer Media & Marketing today announces Mark Glendenning as the new editor of RACER.com. The move marks the first time that RACER.com has had an editor solely dedicated to RACER's online platform.
Longtime editor-in-chief Laurence Foster will continue to lead the overall editorial voice and vision for the RACER brand.
"Let me be the first to welcome Mark to our team," says Foster. "He's been a colleague and contributor to RACER for many years, bringing exceptional storytelling capabilities. Mark is a passionate and respected member of the racing community, but he has never let his personal point of view cloud his ability to tell a story accurately and fairly. These qualities make him the ideal individual to carry RACER.com forward."
Glendenning comes as a longtime contributor to both RACER.com and AUTOSPORT in Great Britain, having previously written for Motorsport News (UK) and Australasian Motorsport News (Australia). While Glendenning will certainly continue to contribute to magazine, his focus will be on keeping RACER.com on the forefront of racing news gathering and reportage. His mandate includes the continued cultivation of original feature content, along with insightful and up-to-the minute news and analysis across every facet of the sport. He'll work closely with RACER.com editor-at-large Marshall Pruett and senior IndyCar editor Robin Miller.
"I'm really pleased and excited to have this opportunity to lead RACER.com," says Glendenning. "It's a massive challenge to balance up-to-the-minute reportage in this dynamic and ever changing business with an ability to deliver information that is both accurate and trustworthy. RACER.com has set a high standard and I owe it to our growing readership to not only maintain that standard but to continue strengthening it."
Executive editor Andrew Crask, a 21-year veteran of the RACER family, continues as the underpinning of the entire RACER editorial team.
Glendenning takes over the helm of RACER.com as it continues to set new records in audience growth, having attained the best audience numbers ever for the month of August. RACER.com recorded 326,901 unique visitors and 2,521,272 page views, which stands second only to May 2015 as the most trafficked month in RACER.com history. Glendenning brings considerable savvy in the digital media space that will enable him to take on a proactive role in evolving RACER.com's content offering, as well as commercial opportunities.
"As we have throughout our 23 years, our goal is to deliver the best racing content in print and online by bringing in the best and brightest talents in journalism, photography and video who meet our incredibly high standards of accuracy, authenticity, beauty and integrity," says founder, president and CEO Paul Pfanner. "I'm very proud to have Mark Glendenning as a permanent member of our staff and I'm looking forward to the bright future that RACER.com has ahead of it."
David Malsher leaves RACER after nearly a decade of service. We thank him for his contribution, and wish him well in his future endeavors.
