PWC: Lewis fastest in second Sonoma GT practice

Michael Lewis posted the fastest time in Friday's second 30-minute GT, GTA and GT Cup practice at Sonoma Raceway, at the Pirelli World Challenge Grand Prix of Sonoma presented by Kia. Frankie Montecalvo was fastest in GTA, while Alec Udell was fastest in GT Cup presented by MOMO.

Weather conditions for the session were 82 degrees under clear skies.

Early on, Johnny O'Connell in the No. 3 Cadillac Racing/Cadillac ATS-VR GT3 posted a 1:35.328. Renger van der Zande, in the No 31 EFFORT Racing/World PMO/Porsche 911 GT3R then went to the top of the charts with a 1:35.047.

Guy Smith in the No. 20 Bentley/Breitling/Mobil 1/Bentley Continental GT3 then posted a 1:34.898.

In GTA, Mike Hedlund, in the No. 65 Scuderia Corsa/Ferrari 458 GT3 Italia posted the fastest time early on in class with a 1:35.467. In GT Cup, Colin Thompson, in the No. 11 Porsche of Bucks County/Penn Valley/Porsche 911 GT3 Cup posted the early fastest time in the session with a 1:39.936.

Sixteen minutes into the session, James Davison in the No. 33 AE/ReplayXD/Nissan Nismo/Nissan GT-R GT3 went to the top of the charts with a 1:34.252. Teammate Bryan Heitkotter in the No. 05 Nissan GT Academy GT-R/Nissan GT-R GT3 then posted the second fastest time shortly after with a 1:34.706.

In GTA, Martin Fuentes in the No. 07 Scuderia Corsa/Hublot/Samsung/Ferrari 458 GT3 Italia topped the charts in GTA with a 1:35.233. In GT, Smith then posted the second fastest time of 1:34.702.

At the 22-minute mark, van der Zande then went to the top of the charts with a 1:34.031. Montecalvo, in the No. 66 Bayshore Racing/Mercedes Benz AMG SLS GT3 then slotted into second overall, and first in GTA with a 1:34.148.

In GT Cup, Udell then posted the quickest time with a 1:39.254.

Twenty-eight minutes into the session, Lewis then posted the fastest time of the session with a 1:33.652.

GT, GTA and GT Cup presented by MOMO drivers now get set for qualifying for GT/GTA Round 18 and GT Cup Round 16, scheduled for Saturday at 12:30 p.m.  Follow live timing and scoring at
