Formula E: Coletti chasing Aguri seat after test
IndyCar driver Stefano Coletti is hoping to force his way into Team Aguri's Formula E lineup for the 2015-'16 season.
Coletti flew from Pocono to Donington Park this week to test Aguri's Spark SRT_01E on Tuesday afternoon, after Nathanael Berthon had run on Monday and again the next morning. With Salvador Duran joining the Trulli team, Aguri has both driver slots open - with Berthon, Nicolas Lapierre, Tom Dillmann and Pedro de la Rosa all having sampled the car.
"I've nothing planned for next year so let's see what we can do," Coletti told AUTOSPORT. "I hope I can be in Beijing.
"I've known these guys for many years now, and they called me up for this test. I'm interested, that's why I'm here – I want to race in the series."
Coletti completed 20 laps for Aguri and said he enjoyed the experience of driving the car for the first time, despite only running in either damp or wet conditions.
E.DAMS PAIR SECURED, FINAL CONFIRMATIONS DUE
The Renault e.dams team officially confirmed on Friday that it will retain Sebastien Buemi and Nicolas Prost, as expected. That still leaves another three to-be-confirmed entries in addition to the empty Aguri seats, even though the second season of the all-electric championship does not begin until Oct. 17 in China.
Dragon Racing is sticking with Loic Duval alongside Jerome d'Ambrosio and should confirm the Frenchman in due course, while Briton Oliver Turvey is expected to partner champion Nelson Piquet Jr at the Team China Racing squad.
Andretti Autosport is keen on signing Robin Frijns alongside Simona de Silvestro, having tested the multiple open-wheel champion this week.
