Formula E: De Silvestro commits to full season with Andretti

Simona de Silvestro will contest the full second season of Formula E with the Andretti team.

The IndyCar regular and one-time Sauber Formula 1 test driver made her debut in the series' 2014-'15 season finale in London, one of eight drivers to represent the squad through the campaign, finishing 11th and 12th in the two races.

During last week's first official pre-season test at Donington Park, de Silvestro represented the team, but failed to complete a lap as Andretti experienced problems with its new electric motor.

"I'm happy to be joining the Andretti Formula E Team for this upcoming season," said de Silvestro. "I'm really happy to be full time in the championship again and to work with both [sponsors] Amlin and TE Connectivity. I'm also looking forward to being part of developing the new Andretti Technologies powertrain and hope for a successful year with a great team."

The second official test began on Monday morning with de Silvestro the only driver nominated for Andretti for the two days.

Former Toyota World Endurance Championship LMP1 driver Nicolas Lapierre is getting his first taste of the series, with Team Aguri, before GP2 racer Nathanael Berthon takes the car over on Tuesday.
