GP2: Latifi to race for MP in Hungary
Formula Renault 3.5 driver Nicholas Latifi will return to GP2 this weekend at the Hungaroring with MP Motorsport.
The Canadian made his debut in the series at Abu Dhabi last year with Hilmer Motorsport and currently sits 11th in the FR3.5 standings. Latifi will line up alongside Daniel De Jong, in the car raced by Oliver Rowland at Silverstone, and the team says he will contest additional, "selected" races during the second half of the season.
"I'm really excited to be joining MP Motorsport," the 20-year-old said. "I have never worked with the team before but I look forward to developing a good relationship with everyone.
"I have driven a GP2 car previously, and raced in Hungary earlier this year [in FR3.5], which will definitely help me getting up to speed quicker. Nonetheless, I know it will be a big challenge jumping into the car in the middle of the season.
"My goal is to just gain experience, constantly improve, and close the gap to the leaders with each track session."
