WEC: Two-day Nurburgring test lineup set

The addition of the Nurburgring to the 2015 FIA WEC calendar replacing Interlagos added a 10th circuit to the WEC history books since 2012. It’s also a circuit that most of the current WEC teams have very little data for, so the opportunity to test there is something that many are grateful for.Toyota had a two-day test scheduled for next Monday and Tuesday and has invited the rest of the WEC grid to share the track. That opportunity has been snapped up by a number of teams with 20 cars due to take part and all classes represented on a provisional (and unofficial) entry list.

The first day closed to the public but on Tuesday spectators are welcome to attend, although the paddock will be closed.

In LMP1. Toyota is expected to run a single TS040 for Anthony Davidson, Sebastien Buemi and Alex Wurz. They’ll be joined by single car attendees from both Porsche (Messrs Bernhard, Lieb, Hartley and Dumas) and Audi (Lotterer and Treluyer on Monday, di Grassi and Duval on Tuesday).

Rebellion Racing is not slated to attend but ByKolles is due to run its CLM P1/01, drivers TBA.

In LMP2 there’s healthy six-car showing with only Signatech and Oak Racing from the full season entry not due to run (Oak Racing will not race their #35 Ligier at the Nurburgring).

G-Drive will bring one of its pair of Ligier Nissans to run. Sam Bird will run on the Monday, Roman Rusinov on both days.

ESM is set to put miles on both of its Ligier-Hondas with all six full season drivers due to run on both days, the cars now back in their regular Tequila Patron livery.

The Nurburgring test will be the first opportunity for the public and media to get a glimpse of

Strakka Racing’s ex-Greaves Motorsport Gibson 015S

in the Silverstone-based team’s hands. Unsurprisingly all three of the team drivers are keen to get seat time on their new steed.

Team SARD Morand is to to run its #43 Morgan Evo with drivers as yet unconfirmed.

Finally in P2 comes KCMG, as the 2015 Le Mans class winner brings Richard Bradley, Matt Howson and, on Tuesday only, Porsche’s Le Mans winner Nick Tandy.

In GTE, AF Corse bring both of its GTE Pro Ferraris, each with their regular full-season driver pairings.

Porsche have both their Pro cars listed, too, but with only one driver apiece named – Richard Lietz for #91, Michael Christensen for #92.

Aston Martin Racing brings a single Pro car but is due to run Nicki Thiim, Christoffer Nygaard, Marco Sorensen from the #95 squad and Fernando Rees and Richie Stanaway from the #99.

Finally, GTE Am should see five cars running.

SMP Racing is due to attend with its Le Mans-winning #72 Ferrari.

AF Corse is set to run with its full season #83 car and lineup.

Proton Competition will attend with both of its cars, the #77 Dempsey Proton 911 RSR and its sister #88 Abu Dhabi Proton Racing Porsche; all six full-season drivers are named as attending.

Aston Martin is set to bring an Am car, too, the #98 car of Paul Dalla Lana, Mathias Lauda and Jonny Adam, who is set to race alongside Darren Turner and Stefan Mucke in the #97 Pro car in August.
