WTCC finalizes Qatar Friday switch

The World Touring Car Championship finale in Qatar will take place on a Friday at the Losail circuit, event and series bosses have announced.

The Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation signed a three-year agreement with the WTCC at last weekend's Paul Ricard round, confirming the event's revised date as Nov. 26-27. The race will be the WTCC's first night event.

QMMF president Nasser Khalifa Al Atya said: "I am very excited and looking forward to having the WTCC teams at Losail for their first ever night race.

"I promise my full support and my team will work closely with the WTCC to ensure an excellent and unforgettable racing experience."

WTCC managing director Francois Ribeiro said: "The addition of Qatar to the calendar ensures that this is a true world championship."

Qatar replaces Macau, which was part of the WTCC schedule since the championship's return in 2005, as the season finale.
