PWC: Ricca takes TC pole at Road America

Jeff Ricca secured his first career Pirelli World Challenge Series TC pole for Saturday's Round 7 TC/TCA/TCB race at the DeVILBISS Grand Prix at Road America presented by Cadillac. Tony Rivera  and Glenn Nixon scored the TCA and TCB poles respectively.

Early in the 30-minute session, Ernie Francis Jr. in the No. 98 Breathless Racing/Time4Learning Mazda MX-5 set the pace in TC with a 2:27.140. Jeff Altenburg, the 2007 Touring Car Champion, in the No. 15 HPA Motorsports VW Jetta GL1 went to the top of the TC charts eight minutes in with a 2:27.063. Moments later, Ricca, in the No. 78 GenRacer/Enthuspec Hyundai Genesis Coupe 2.0T set the fastest lap in TC with a 2:27.044 

TCA Drivers' Championship points leader coming into the weekend, Jason Wolfe set the early pace with a 2:36.423. Twelve minutes in Rivera in the No. 86 Tiburon Motorsports Brass Monkey Racing Scion FR-S went to the top of the TCA charts with a 2:35.703. Fifteen minutes in Rivera improved to a 2:35.120 and then at the 23 minute mark he improved his time to a 2:34.452. Of note, Kevin Anderson, of a 2:36.244

In TCB, Nixon set the early pace with a 2:56.624. Nixon's teammate Andrei Kisel in the No. 57 Racing.ca/LaptopScreen.com MINI Cooper moved to the top with a 2:56.623. Nixon then went faster with a 2:56.615.

For Rivera, it's his third pole this season, and for Nixon second pole of the season.
