Mahindra runs its new FE powertain

The Carlin-run Mahindra Racing Formula E team completed a two-day test this week with the specification of car it will use in the second season of the championship.

While Formula E has raced with a spec chassis and engine package for its inaugural season, certain areas of the powertrain are being opened up for manufacturer development over the next few years.

Mahindra is one of eight manufacturers approved to develop its own parts for the 2015/16 season, and it tested its "M2Electro" with Bruno Senna at Dunsfold in the UK.

"It was a very proud moment for the entire team," Team boss Dilbagh Gill said. "This is the culmination of all the hard work and determination of the team. It was very exciting to see Bruno on track in our second-generation Formula E car.

"The two days of testing gave us the perfect opportunity to test the car and obtain even more valuable information as we look ahead to the second season of Formula E."

The first Formula E campaign concludes with a double-header round in London next weekend.
