Lucas Oil Off Road: Clark dominates at WHP
Patrick Clark's first victory in Pro 2 at Round 4 at Wild Horse pass Motorsports Park was not only popular, it was dominating. Clark started out front and was never challenged for the length of the race, also scoring the Optima Battery Fast Lap award.
“My hat's off to Patrick Clark,” said second-place finisher Bryce Menzies, who scored both wins at Lake Elsinore. “He ran away with it. I was driving as hard as I could, and I couldn't even get close to him.”
For Clark, it was redemption for a near win at his home track in Las Vegas a couple of years ago, where he appeared headed for victory until a flat tire ruined his run.
“We've been working very hard for avery long time,” Clark said. “That Vegas race haunts me. We had it in the bag just like this one and that tire let go. Someone had to take Bryce Menzies reign away from him. This is my first time on the box, and it's amazing.”
Pro 4 Podium Sweep
Menzies, in Pro 4, is the only driver to have raced onto the podium in each of the four races so far. Still seeking his first Pro 4 win since adding the class to his program this year, he has a third and three seconds.
Menzies has three podium finishes – one on each step – in Pro 2, as does Jeremy McGrath, who has three third-place finishes. As a result, the two are tied in the points. Kyle LeDuc also has three podium finishes in Pro 4, each one on the top step, so he leads the Pro 4 points despite Menzies' four top-threes. RJ Anderson and Sheldon Creed both have three top-three finishes in Pro Lite, but both have had some really bad finishes as well – Creed was disqualified from a fourth-place finish in Round 1 – so they are third and fourth in the points behind Jerett Brooks (ABOVE LEFT) and Brad DeBerti. Garrett George is the lone Pro Buggy driver with three podiums, and is second in the points behind cousin and defending champ Chad George.
