Rydell to miss Hungaroring WTCC round
Rickard Rydell will miss a second World Touring Car Championship event due to illness as he is not well enough to return to racing at the Hungaroring this weekend. The WTCC returnee was diagnosed with thyroiditis last week and sat out the previous event in Marrakech.
A statement from Rydell's Nika Honda team said: "Although his condition has improved in recent days, Rydell's doctors have advised the five-time WTCC race winner not to travel to Hungary and to instead convalesce back home in Sweden."
The team has decided not to bring in a substitute driver for Hungary and will skip the event. It hopes to return for the following WTCC round on the Nurburgring Nordschleife in mid-May.
