Borkovic pulls out of WTCC

Dusan Borkovic has pulled out of the rest of the World Touring Car Championship after a troubled start to 2015 and a dispute with his Proteam Racing Honda squad.

The Serbian driver moved from Campos Racing's Chevrolet to Proteam over the winter but struggled to fit his six-foot-nine build into the Honda Civic. He raced in the opening round in Argentina against doctors' advice, and then withdrew from last weekend's event in Morocco before the races, citing a disagreement over the car's brake and damper specification, plus his discomfort in the cockpit and the recent death of his father.

"It may have been a wrong decision to compete in Morocco so soon after my father's death," said Borkovic last weekend.  "I wanted to continue for him but I am not 100 percent focused and it is really hard for me to deal with these ridiculous issues at this moment.

"The car in this state was not safe for me to drive, I didn't want to cause problems for myself or other drivers."

On Wednesday Borkovic's management announced that he was withdrawing from the 2015 WTCC, promising further information in a press conference on Friday.

The 30-year-old was a podium finisher with Campos last year in his first season after moving up from European Touring Cars.
