IMSA: JDC teammates continue domination in Prototype Lights at NOLA

After just one practice, JDC Motorsports has shown it is ready to dominate in Rounds 3 and 4 of the Cooper Tires Prototype Lites Powered by Mazda at NOLA Motorsports Park.

Series rookie Kenton Koch owned the top of the charts with the quickest lap of the 40-minute session, 1 minute, 34.092 seconds, in the No. 60 JDC Motorsports entry during the first session on the new 2.74-mile, 13-turn road course.

Joining Koch at the top was JDC teammate Clark Toppe, who was second overall at 1:35.289 in the No. 10 JDC Motorsports entry. Toppe, 17, split the opening two rounds with Koch on March 19-20 at Sebring, each picking up a win and second-place finish.

Robert Alon claimed the third spot at 1:35.559 in the No. 00 Performance Tech Motorsports Élan DP02 chassis powered by a Mazda engine on Cooper Tires. Alon broke up a JDC Motorsports sweep of the top three spots on one of the final laps of the session.

The third JDC Motorsports driver, Matt McMurry was fourth overall at 1:35.086. Performance Tech Motorsports rookie Austin Versteeg rounded out the top five at 1.36.092.

John Falb was the fastest Lites 1 Masters driver at 1:37.095 in the No. 77 ONE Motorsports entry. Two-time defending Lites 2 champion Brian Alder was quickest in the Lites 2 class at 1:38.460.

Qualifying will take place from 8:30-8:50 a.m. Saturday morning followed by the 30-minute Round 3 at 1:35 p.m. later in the day. Round 4, a 45-minute race, is scheduled for 9:15 a.m. Sunday.
