WRC: Neuville wants more from Hyundai

Thierry Neuville has called on his Hyundai team to redouble its efforts with the i20 WRC despite already being second to Sebastien Ogier in the 2015 World Rally Championship.

The Belgian came within 6.4 seconds of securing victory in Sweden earlier this month, but last year's Rally Germany winner said that hike in speed came from him rather than the car.

"I had a positive feeling from the event - it was impossible to stay ahead of both Volkswagens and I have to be proud of what we have done, but we always want more work," Neuville told AUTOSPORT. "We know that everybody is doing their best in the team at the moment, but we need more improvements to be closer to the others.

"Nicolas [Gilsoul, co-driver] and me made the difference [in Sweden], but we couldn't do this every time."

Neuville cited a paddleshift as one of the main areas for improvement, and the gearbox revision is expected in time for Rally Mexico next week.

Team principal Michel Nandan agreed that Neuville had been the biggest factor in the Sweden result.

"On performance, we are still behind with the car and most of the reason we are in this position [in Sweden and the championship] is because of Thierry and his fantastic drive," he said. "Thierry feels confident with the car and when a driver's confident then he's quick.

"The performance of the car did not change from last year, so for sure this is down to the driver. We do have more knowledge of the car than last year and that helps, but still we have more to do."
