NASCAR: Stewart-Haas sticks with Smith for Atlanta

Stewart-Haas Racing has announced that Regan Smith – who replaced the suspended Kurt Busch in Sunday's Daytona 500 – will start again in the team's No. 41 Chevrolet next weekend at Atlanta Motor Speedway. As was the case for Daytona, the team made clear this was a one-race deal for the Xfinity Series regular. Smith finished 16th in the Daytona 500 for SHR.

FOX Sports 1's Alan Cavanna reported Monday that representatives from SHR and Busch's public relations team have not received any word from NASCAR about what steps Busch will have to take before he can apply for reinstatement. Busch's legal team filed two appeals to his indefinite suspension by the sanctioning body after it was handed down on Friday, but both were rejected.
