WRC: Shakedown crash injures photographer

The Rally Sweden shakedown stage was halted on Thursday morning after an incident in which a photographer was injured.

Czech privateer Michal Solowow lost control of his Ford Fiesta RS WRC (pictured) over the first of two consecutive jumps on the stage. The car traveled for some distance before coming to rest in a ditch beyond the second jump, striking the photographer in the process. The unnamed photographer has been taken to hospital in what rally officials described as a "stable" condition.

The shakedown was stopped for 45 minutes following the accident.

Rally Sweden, round two of this year's World Rally Championship, begins with a superspecial in Karlstad on Thursday evening.
