
NASCAR: Jeb Burton joins BK Racing
Jeb Burton was officially confirmed Monday as BK Racing's newest Sprint Cup Series driver. The 22-year-old son of 2002 Daytona 500 winner Ward Burton will drive the team's No. 26 Toyota Camry for the full Sprint Cup Series season and contend for the Rookie of the Year Award. Patrick Donahue will serve as the crew chief.
Burton moves up to Cup from the Camping World Truck Series, where he scored one victory, seven top-5 and 19 top-10 finishes.
"I am so thankful for the opportunity that BK Racing has given me," said Burton. "It has been a dream of mine to race in the Daytona 500 ever since I was 9 years old and I stood with my dad in victory lane. I remember thinking to myself then in 2002, I would like to win the 500 one day. Now I have a chance at making that dream come true.
"I am looking forward to making the 500, providing the best possible finish I can by running and racing hard every lap this season. I also look forward to competing for the 2015 title of Rookie of the Year. Each week, I will be concentrating on finishing on the lead lap and learning as much as possible."
BK Racing announced that Johnny Sauter will run the team's No. 83 Toyota at the Daytona 500
, where it is not guaranteed a start and will having to qualify on speed or in the qualifying Duels. The team had previously announced that JJ Yeley would driveits No. 23 entry this season. BK has also indicated they would run a fourth Sprint Cup entry on a part-time basis for Matt DiBenedetto, who ran last year's NASCAR Nationwide Series for Curtis Key's The Motorsports Group team.Latest News
