PWC: HPA Motorsports joins TC field
Canadian VW tuner HPA Motorsports Inc., is set to campaign two VW Jetta GLIs in the 2015 Pirelli World Challenge TC class.
After success in the 2012 Touring Car championship with two track records, four pole positions and four podium finishes including two wins, the HPA team took a two-year hiatus from racing during relocation of their corporate headquarters, in order to focus on their ongoing product development projects.
With all-new livery being developed for the two-car team by Andy Blackmore Designs, the HPA Jettas are poised to reenter the series with a fresh new design in which to showcase Volkswagen’s robust DSG Direct Shift Gearbox and durable 2.0T powerplant.
The team has secured secured 2013 Dominican Touring Car Champion and 2007 PWC Touring Car Champion driver Jeff Altenburg to pilot car No. 15.
“I’ve known Marcel for three years now and I have complete confidence in his abilities across the spectrum to give me the best Touring Car on the grid with HPA's VW Jetta GLI," said Altenburg. "I’m getting to know the team as well and look forward to going into battle with them in just a few weeks at Austin. I’m also looking forward to working with the driver we bring on board as my teammate."
HPA’s crew chief, Marcel Horn, is currently interviewing candidates for a funded second driver to put behind the wheel of Car No. 16 in efforts to build a cohesive team for the season.
