Report: Haas F1 buys Marussia factory

Racecar Engineering reports that Haas F1 – the new Charlotte-based team owned by Gene Haas that is set to enter grand prix racing in 2016 – has acquired the former Marussia F1 facility in Banbury, England. Data and designs for the planned 2015 Marussia are thought to be included in the deal, according to the report.
The UK factory was not among the team assets auctioned off to pay Marussia's creditors earlier this month, but was expected to be available after it became clear that the team would not be able to answer the bell in 2015.
Haas F1 has contracted with Ferrari for engines and technical support, and had previously indicated it intended to establish a European base of operations alongside its purpose-built factory in North Carolina.
Marussia’s remaining assets are set to be auctioned off in late January.
