WEC: Haynes lists potential Veloqx comeback in sports cars, or F1

Listeners to Radio Le Mans' John Hindhaugh's exclusive interview with Howden 'H' Haynes after yesterday's 6 Hours of Interlagos would have heard not only a really good trot down sports car memory lane with Haynes as he steps down as Audi Sport Team Joest Technical Director after 100 races (including an astonishing 33 race wins) with the four rings, but also some tantalizing details about what is to come next for one of the most recognizable men on the pit wall.

“We are working on a lot of interesting projects, some inside motorsport, some outside," he said. “I am proud to have been appointed as Head of Motorsport Activities and Car Activities at Veloqx, going back to our friend Sam Li from 10 years ago, we are looking at interesting motorsport projects that may well, or will, involve sports cars or Formula 1. (the Veloqx run Audi UK R8s from the the 2004 Le Mans Endurance Series shown below at Monza).

“If Veloqx did come back into motorsport it would be a top down approach, either owning a prestigious existing team, taking that over, or working closely with one of the top manufacturers which whom we already have established relationships with over the years.

“Given the right circumstances, and the right project then we could bring Veloqx back into the sport.”

That’s a set of statements from Howden that should be taken very seriously, Veloqx’s heritage is a serious one, and the potential industry links and finance available are very significant indeed. Of all the current rumored future programs in the sport, this is the one that readers should take most seriously at present!

When asking yourselves the obvious question – Which manufacturers do the combined resources of Progressive and Veloqx have close connections to? The answer is a simple one – all of them!
