Loeb to contest Andros Trophy ice racing

Nine-time World Rally champion turned World Touring Car Championship racer Sebastien Loeb will contest the opening round of the Andros Trophy ice racing series.

Loeb will drive a Sainteloc Racing-run Citroen DS3 for the outing at Val Thorens on Dec. 6-7. His WTCC teammate Yvan Muller has won 10 Andros Trophy titles alongside his touring car career, while four-time Formula 1 world champion Alain Prost also now has three Andros crowns to his name.

Loeb's only previous Andros appearance came when he did an exhibition run in Citroen's then-new C4 WRC car in the 2006 final at the Stade de France.

Although Loeb has focused on his first WTCC season through the main part of the year, the Val Thorens appearance will be his second extra-curricular event of the off-season. He will also make a temporary return to rallying to contest the Rally of Var in France with wife Severine co-driving at the end of November.
