Latifi to make GP2 debut for Hilmer
Nicholas Latifi will make his GP2 debut this weekend in Abu Dhabi when he replaces Daniel Abt at the Hilmer team. The 19-year-old Canadian has competed in the Formula 3 European Championship this year with Prema, ending up 10th in the standings with one podium finish. He has also taken part in three Formula Renault 3.5 races with Tech 1.
Abt, the regular driver in the Force India-affiliated Hilmer squad, is competing in the Formula E race in Malaysia this weekend for his family's Audi-backed Abt team.
Elsewhere, Kevin Giovesi will return to GP2 with the Rapax team, the Italian having last raced in the series last year with Lazarus. He focused on Auto GP this season.
The 21-year-old Italian will drive the #14 entry occupied by Adrian Quaife-Hobbs until the previous round at Sochi, where Tio Ellinas stepped in as the series said Quaife-Hobbs was recovering from a neck injury.
