Le Mans: Wednesday announcement set for 9-time 24 Hours winner Kristensen

The man known as "Mr. Le Mans" is expected to announce his plans for the future during a press conference scheduled at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at home in Denmark. Audi Sport boss Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich and Audi Sport technical director Ralf Juttner are scheduled to appear at the press conference which will be covered live on Danish television.

Rumors have been circulating regarding the 47-year-old's future in recent months, with retirement mentioned as a consideration for the 9-time winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. A complete farewell tour during the 2015 WEC season and a one-off return at next year's 24 Hours of Le Mans have also been mentioned as a possible options for the Dane. Recent chatter behind the scenes has hinted at TK returning for one more year, and he recently denied retirement was on the immediate horizon.

In a career filled with highlights, Kristensen, along with teammates Allan McNish and Loic Duval, most recently won the World Endurance Championship P1 crown in 2013 and claimed victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans for the ninth time. 2014 has not been as kind for TK or the Audi team, other than a win at Le Mans with the No. 2 R18 e-tron quattro piloted by Marcel Fassler, Andre Lotterer and Benoit Treluyer.

Kristensen will have one more chance to win this season at the finale in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and his many fans will soon know whether they'll have more chances to root for one of sports car racing's accomplished and cherished drivers in 2015, or if he'll call time on an unparalelled career.
