Scalextric integrates smart phones and slot cars

, and the tablet computing is now poised to revolutionize the world of slot car racing, too.

The Scalextric ARC ONE – the latest system from the British slot car manufacturer that has been renowned for its quality and realism since 1957 – allows users to wirelessly create and manage races via a smartphone or tablet. Download the ARC app from Apple's App Store or Google Play for Android devices, then connect your device via Bluetooth to the new ARC powerbase, unlocking unique features and control of your races.

The system provides unprecedented new ways to personalize your slot car racing experience by selecting features such as race type, driver names and number of laps. Customize and save your race settings and car setup before you head out on the track to test your skills and challenge your opponent. Then, brag about the results and share stats with friends via social media, all utilizing the ARC app. The app allows you to create your own Scalextric garage, listing your slot car collection, track pieces and accessories, track layout options and more.

And there's plenty of variety of racecar types to choose from in 1/32nd scale, ranging from modern GTs like the Bentley Continental GT3 (LEFT) to historic cars, all replicated with a remarkable level of detail.
