Michimi claims first Auto GP win
Shinya Michimi scored his first Auto GP race victory in the final race of 2014 at Estoril.
The Euronova Racing driver took the chequered flag 3.698s ahead of Zele Racing's Luis Sa Silva.
Michimi took the lead of the race with five laps remaining when Francesco Dracone made his mandatory pitstop, paving the way for Michimi to stretch out a slight gap to Sa Silva, who put behind him a tardy first race to score his first Auto GP podium despite a damaged front wing.
Completing the podium was Antonio Pizzonia in the other Zele Lola. The former Jaguar and Williams Formula 1 driver put in a late charge but could not replicate his race one runner-up position.
Tamas Pal Kiss, came home in fourth place in his Virtuosi UK entry, while Markus Pommer cemented his third place in the final title standings with a distant fifth.
Virtuosi just missed out on the Auto GP teams' title with Super Nova narrowly winning by six points.
2013 champion Vittorio Ghirelli was the only retirement, forced to stop when the nose-assembly detached from his Lola.
