Slot Mods USA fantasy track to feature on Today Show

As part of the build-up around the renowned Neiman Marcus Christmas Book, Slot Mods USA founder David Beattie will appear on NBC's "Today" Show on Wednesday, Oct. 15 to talk about the $300,000 Fantasy Slot Car track he will build for anyone fortunate enough to find it in their stocking on Christmas morning.

Of course, as the track is slated to be 12 by 30 feet, custom built to the recipient's precise whims and takes six months to complete, it won't exactly be in the stocking, but maybe a nice 1:32 slot car version of a favorite racecar will do until the track is complete.

The upcoming Technology Issue of RACER magazine, which begins mailing on October 18, will feature a two-page special section on the new era of slot car racing. RACER worked closely with Beattie to put together the feature, which covers some of his own creations as well as a look at several leading providers of slot cars and slot car tracks. There's also a chat with Bobby Rahal about the track that Beattie built for him – a recreation of Road America circa 1963!

Beattie says the Neiman Marcus Fantasy track can be a recreation of any race track past or present, or it can be a combination of corners and elevations from various tracks strung together. Beattie built such a track for Just Marketing Inc.'s Zak Brown. But why stick with established tracks when you can build a track of your own creation? Just make sure you are on Santa's (very) good list, and someone may place an order at Neiman Marcus on your behalf.
