F1: Ecclestone denies he is being refused reinstatement to F1 board
Formula chief executive Bernie Ecclestone has dismissed as "complete and utter rubbish" reports in the British media that the board of F1's holding company, Delta Topco, has placed "conditions" on Ecclestone's return to the board that have not yet been met.
Ecclestone voluntarily stepped down from the board during his bribery trial in Germany, which was settled in August. "The agreement was, when this trial started, I agreed to stand down from the board while the trial was on. Afterwards, it's business as usual," the 83-year-old told Britain's Daily Telegraph.
Asked if it is true some "conditions" have been placed on his continuation, he replied: "Not at all. What was agreed was that certain things, if I wanted to buy the Eiffel Tower as CEO, that probably I would need permission from the board."
CVC, F1's controlling shareholder, made no comment on Ecclestone's status.
