Jordan wants works Honda equipment

Reigning British Touring Car champion Andrew Jordan wants the same car as the works Honda team if he is to stay with the marque next season.

Jordan continued with the Eurotech-run Civic hatchback he drove to the 2013 title this year, while the Team Dynamics works squad switched to the Civic Tourer estate and VTEC engine.

"If I'm in a Honda next year I've made it clear I want the same engine and car as the works," Jordan told AUTOSPORT. "I don't think it's worked as well this year without the VTEC engine."

Although Honda has yet to confirm its 2015 plans, Jordan believes a switch to the new Civic Type R is logical, but also confirmed he has another BTCC possibility.

"I want to help launch the Type R, if Honda is still in the BTCC," he added. "I'd be surprised if they aren't because of the push behind the Type R and the BTCC is a good platform. But it needs to work for us. There is another option we're looking at."
