WEC: Audi leads FP3 at COTA

The Audi Sport team asserted its dominance in the dry for the second day in a row as the No. 1 and 2 R18 e-tron quattros finished 1-2 in Friday morning's free practice session at Circuit of The Americas.

The No. 01's 1:49.480 was 0.68 seconds up on the sister No. 2 R18 (1:50.160), and a full 1.197 seconds clear of the No. 8 Toyota TS040 Hybrid which placed third. Audi's fastest lap in FP1 was also just over one second clear of their rivals. The fastest Porsche placed fourth, 1.496 seconds shy of the top Audi with a 1:50.976.

The No. 26 G-Drive Racing Ligier-Nissan took its first turn atop the P2 class with a lap of 1:56.601. KCMG's ORECA 03-Nissan was second (1:57.438) and the Extreme Speed motorsports HPD ARX-03b was third (1:58.004).

GTE-Pro saw a 1-2 by Aston Martin Racing stablemates as the No. 99 (2:05.382) led the No. 97 (2:05.422), followed by the no. 51 AF Corse Ferrari in third (2:05.480).

Aston Martin also headed GTE-Am with a 2:06.198 set with the No. 98 Vantage V8.
