Mitchum Motorsports Circuit of The Americas Pre-Race Report
Mitchum Motorsports returns to Circuit of the America’s (COTA) this weekend for the latest round of the 2014 Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge Series with their two BMW 128i’s ready to take on the competitive field in the Street Tuner category. Back are drivers Dillon Machavern and Dillon Murcott in the #10 they’ve shared all season, and for the second straight race are Patrick Byrne and Todd Harris in the #11 Explor backed entry.
For the Mitchum team, this is a lighter load then on most weekends when they also run a full fleet of Lamborghini Gallardo’s in the Super Trofeo. “We know we can do well at COTA, both cars have talented drivers that can compete at the front of the field” states Team Owner Chris Mitchum. “That said, this is also going to be a fun weekend for our guys, having only two cars and a two day schedule will enable us to also enjoy our surroundings more than most weekends. This is a great facility and Austin is a great city, we can’t wait to get started.”
The team’s results have steadily improved the last few rounds after some initial issues to start the season and everyone seems to be hitting their stride at the right time to end the season strong and go into the offseason with some momentum. The drivers are equally looking forward to the Circuit of the America’s event, as the team drivers have never been on this circuit prior to this weekend.
Driver Dillon Machavern states; “I’m excited to add another new track to the list this weekend in Texas. Having never been to COTA, it will take both practice sessions to get up to speed, but the Mitchum team has worked very hard to put a good car underneath Dylan (Murcott) and I, and we’re looking for a strong result again this weekend.”
