Formula E plans European double-header
An additional race at one of the final Formula E events in Europe could bring the all-electric series back to its original schedule of 10 rounds.
Series boss Alejanadro Agag revealed in Beijing last weekend that plans to replace the canceled Rio di Janeiro race, previously scheduled for Hong Kong, have been abandoned and that he is now considering turning one of the three European races at the end of the season into a two-day double-header meeting.
"I can confirm that we will not go to a 10th city, so we have two options," he said. "We can stay with nine races, which for the first year is perfectly OK; or we can make one of the final three races a double-header, so one race on Saturday and one on Sunday. It is not confirmed, but we are discussing it with the FIA."
Agag's plan would mean a two-day meeting, rather than the one-day events on which Formula E is based, in May in either Monte Carlo or Berlin or in June in London.
Formula E has plans to increase the number of races for season two in 2015-'16, Agag said.
"For sure we will go higher: we are already planning at least two additions for year two," he explained.
