V8 Supercars' Lowndes gets Ferrari for Spa 24 Hours

Australian V8 Supercars legend Craig Lowndes will make his debut in the Spa 24 Hours later this month with the AF Corse Ferrari squad.

The winner of three Australian touring car titles and five Bathurst 1000s has been brought into the AF line-up by fellow countryman Steve Wyatt, who has raced with the team over the past three seasons.

Lowndes, who won the Bathurst 12 Hours in February driving a GT3 Ferrari, will share the Pro-Am class Ferrari in the Blancpain Endurance Series double-points round on July 26/27 with Wyatt and his regular teammate Michele Rugolo.

Former Spa 24 Hours winner Andrea Piccini, who has raced factory-supported Audi and then BMW machinery at Spa over the past three years, has been brought in as the fourth driver for the event.

"After our success at the Bathurst 12 Hours in February this year, I just knew we had to put something together," Lowndes said. "I've been wanting to do more GT racing in Europe for a number of years, so to finally have such a great event locked in for 2014 is very exciting: the combination of a Ferrari and the Spa circuit really is a dream come true."
