GT, GTS Road America Round 7 Grid Set by Points

ELKHART LAKE, Wis. - Due to inclement weather Friday morning, Pirelli World Challenge series officials determined qualifying for GT, GT-A and GTS would not be able to be held at Road America as scheduled. Instead, a practice session was held during the originally scheduled qualifying.
The grid for Round 7 of the season, the Cadillac Grand Prix at Road America, will be determined by points per the series rulebook. Drivers and teams without points were then set by best practice time from Thursday.
This moves Johnny O’Connell, of Flowery Branch, Ga., in the No. 3 Cadillac Racing Cadillac CTS-V.R to the overall and GT class pole position. Anthony Lazzaro, of Atlanta, Ga., will start second in the No. 61 R. Ferri Motorsports Ferrari 458 Italia GT3 with Andrew Palmer, of Chicago, third in the No. 21 GMG Racing Audi R8 Ultra.
Michael Mills, of Angleton, Texas, will be the top GT-A classified driver on the grid in 10th place in the No. 41 EFFORT Racing Porsche GT3 R.
Thursday practice leader Tomas Enge, of Liberec, Czech Republic, in the No. 25 Reiter Engineering Lamborghini Gallardo FL2, starts in 18th. Butch Leitzinger, of State College, Pa., will start 19th in the debuting No. 08 Bentley/Breitling/Mobil 1 Bentley Continental GT3 for Dyson Racing Team Bentley.
In GTS, Jack Baldwin, of Marietta, Ga., has the top starting position in the No. 73 RESET-MD/StopTech/Motul Porsche Cayman S. Second is Mark Wilkins, of Toronto, in the No. 38 PutOnTheBrakes.org Kia Optima with Dean Martin, of Westland, Mich., third in the No. 50 Picture Cars East/Rehagen Racing Ford Mustang Boss 302S.
Nic Jonsson starts fourth in the No. 36 DonorsChoose.org Kia Optima with Tony Buffomante, of Naperville, Ill., the Thursday practice leader in GTS, fifth in the No. 33 Capaldi Racing/Ford Racing Ford Mustang Boss 302S.
Only four drivers in GT/GT-A and four drivers in GTS opted to run in the practice session held this morning. Fastest overall was GT-A classified driver Henrik Hedman, of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., in the No. 10 DragonSpeed Ferrari 458 Italia GT3, at 2:31.697. Jonsson posted the fastest GTS time of 2:37.835 in his No. 36 Kia.
Round 7 of GT, GT-A and GTS will start after 3:15 p.m. CT and local time, following the single NASCAR Nationwide Series practice session that runs until 3:15.
