RoC abandons 2013 reschedule plan
The Race of Champions has abandoned efforts to reschedule its planned 2013 event in Bangkok.
The last edition of the end-of-season head-to-head between stars from various racing disciplines had been scheduled for Dec. 14-15 last year, but was called off due to political unrest in Thailand. The organizers had hoped to find a new date for the event during the 2014 season, but have now given up on that plan.
"The Sports Authority of Thailand and the organizers of the Race of Champions have been unable to find a new date for the 2013 event," said an RoC statement. "This is due to date clashes with the 2014 motorsport calendars and the ongoing political situation in Bangkok, where martial law was imposed yesterday.
"The Race of Champions has been held all over the world for 25 consecutive years, including a successful RoC 2012 in Bangkok, and we hope to return to the Thai capital city to repeat that success at a future event. News about RoC 2014 will be announced in the near future."
