Ogier joins German GT series

World Rally champion Sebastien Ogier will drive an Audi R8 in this weekend's ADAC GT Masters round at the Lausitzring. The 30-year-old Frenchman will share the R8 LMS with former grand prix driver Markus Winkelhock.

Ogier is no stranger to racing, having contested the Porsche Supercup support race during last year's Monaco Grand Prix, where he finished in 13th place. Ogier will have former F1 racers Heinz-Harald Frentzen and Jaime Alguersuari as some of his main rivals during the weekend.

"I always like a fresh challenge, so I'm quite looking forward to competing in the ADAC GT Masters and to my first race at the wheel of the Audi R8 LMS ultra,: Ogier said. "I was a spectator at the ADAC GT Masters in Oschersleben, so have an idea of what the series is all about. The field is top class with many formidable drivers.

"There's plenty of overtaking action on track, which we, of course, don't have in the World Rally Championship."
