Performance open to British F3 return

Anglo-Swedish Formula 3 team Performance Racing is ready to return to the British F3 International Series this season.

The Silverstone-based team, which is playing a leading role in the new Formula Acceleration 1 series, will not be represented in the German F3 Cup this year.

Team chief Bobby Issazadhe partly put the blame on German F3's decision to ditch the spec VW Power Engine and revert to the old-style production-based powerplants used until this year in the F3 European Championship.

British F3 also uses the production engines, but is cheaper for Performance to contest as it has fewer rounds and the team is based in the UK.

"If we can get a driver we would do it," said Issazadhe, whose team last raced a full seaosn in British F3 in 2007.

"Logistically it makes more sense for us, so budget-wise it's better for the driver.

"We've got three cars - and they're competitive cars as well.

"We really want to see both British F3 and German F3 succeed, because the European championship needs strong national series to support it."
